Academics & Research

A student works in the biology lab researching bees.

Before you run the world, you have to know how the world runs. At the George Washington University, students study the world and then work to change it.

Across all academic areas?from international affairs to finance to human services?students take what they?ve learned in the classroom and apply that knowledge in GW?s vast network of internships, partnerships, service initiatives and research opportunities. Research helps solve national and global problems while giving students hands-on experience inside and outside the classroom. Student research and innovation happens in more than 100 of GW?s centers and institutes, in think tanks and laboratories throughout D.C., and as part of the study abroad experience.
