Columbian College of Arts & Sciences

Students from the Columbian College of Arts & Sciences.

Our oldest and largest college, the Columbian College of Arts & Sciences (CCAS), matches the broad study of the liberal arts with the sophisticated research that advances discovery and influences policy.

CCAS is also home to the School of Media & Public Affairs, the Trachtenberg School of Public Policy & Public Administration and the Corcoran School of the Arts & Design. CCAS students and professors conduct behavioral research with orangutans at the National Zoo, scrutinize original historic documents at the Folger Shakespeare Library, develop solar conversion methods to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and present artwork at the NEXT thesis exhibition in the Corcoran?s historic Flagg Building. At CCAS, emphasis is placed on perspective, analysis and communication, encouraging collaboration with external partners and inspiring lasting change. As the university's largest college, CCAS students and faculty are active throughout campus. However, the Academic Center, the Media and Public Affairs Building, and the Flagg Building form a central hub for CCAS academics.
